love for Alber

Alber Elbaz for Lanvin Fall/Winter 2011/2012.

Hands down one of my favourite campaigns for years.
Makes me think my intensely awkward dance moves might just be chic (NB: this is probably only true when clad in Lanvin).

Shot by Steven Meisel.

ball gowns and barefeet

With my birthday coming up, lately I have been looking for that perfect birthday dress.
Set on colour, I found this amazingggggggg buttercup yellow dress by Acne and immediately cursed myself for not having a black tie event.

I don't want to get hyperbolic here, but I think it's possible it's the best yellow dress anyone has ever designed. Ever. There, I said it.

coloured dreams

Josh Goot in Russh...positively dream-like pastels and beautiful photography by Rene Vail.

Russh are doing their very own retrospective for RAFW 2011, and it's just amazing. Russh have always been a favourite of mine for their stunning editorials and photographic stylings, and it's just beautiful to see some of the best garments from this year's shows in such an amazing setting.

Can't wait to see more

black cows, black milk

My first agricultural post. Either that or just some lusting over Brisbane boy James Lillis's Black Milk Clothing creations. Made from super comfortable swim wear material, BM is an awesome site to browse, but even better is to check out their Facebook page - I can't even tell you how many hours I've spent watching the (often hilarious) reactions to JL's posts. Mega fan-girldom like nothing I've ever seen.

1. Green Galaxy Dress by Black Milk Clothing, AU$100 at Black Milk
2. Black Mucha Leggings by Black Milk Clothing, AU$75 at Black Milk
3. Rainbow Galaxy Leggings by Black Milk Clothing, AU$75 at Black Milk

I'll be honest, I've never really been one for the stretch material sleeveless dress - I always feel more comfortable [read: will have a second dinner] when I have somewhere to hide, but I love the idea of wearing the Green Galaxy Dress as a skirt with a billowy top for day, night or even a festival.

ps. I need to get those Black Mucha leggings on me. Non-negotiable

wish I was arty

While it's true, I have never quite gotten over that moment in childhood when you realise you're not one of the 'artistic ones', I am more infatuated with the notion of putting one (or possibly two, so sue me) on my little fingers. Yes, I'm aware they've been out forever, no, I'm still not over them.

1. Arty Too Ring in Metal and Rhinestones by YSL, US$295 at Yves Saint Laurent
2. Arty Oval Ring with Blue Stone by YSL, US$250 at Yves Saint Laurent
3. Arty Enamel Ring in white YSL, US$250 at Yves Saint Laurent
4. Arty Oval Ring with Amethyst by YSL, US$425 at Yves Saint Laurent

Ps. While previewing this before posting, I found I had written 'by YES' beside the second and third ring, instead of YSL. My Freudian slips have become sartorially oriented...surely the beginning of the end?

once upon a time in the west

While if I'm honest, ponchos, Navajo and well, tassled jackets were never far from the warm cockles of my sartorial heart, the Western feel on this season's catwalks is really kicking it up a notch. The entire Isabel Marant collection should probably just get in my closet, or more importantly into my shoe collection, right now.
Some Western inspiration for your viewing pleasure...

presents in the mail

And by that I mean purchases I made and then forget about until they arrive on my doorstep.
I won't bore you with more raving about the Molten Store, except to give you a little peek at the perfect packaging.
Bless

Ps. For those of you playing at home, that little gem sitting there is the House of Harlow Triquetra ring in rose gold. Serious knuckle duster/violent weaponry, I'm in love

preview: henry holland for le specs

I probably enjoyed the extremely weak pun in my title a little too much, so I'll just get straight to the good stuff. As a long time Henry Holland fan-girl (I've been through at least 4 pairs of his suspender stockings), I was very keen to check out his capsule collection in collaboration with Le Specs, and I wasn't disappointed!
At just $90 a pair from MyCatwalk, it's tempting to stock up on a few pairs. Here are some of my personal favourites.

I love the retro feel of Hoodies (shade for your shades?) and naturally anything that resembles glasses fit for a mad scientist goes down just fine with me. Ah, seeya pay check

molten dreams

For those who haven't heard, Molten Store opened its doors late last month, and it is positively dream-like. The very definition of my taste in jewels - tiny rough rock formations forged from silver, rings that resemble a tiny, beautiful weapons and crocheted silver for crying out loud!

Everything about this site is so well done - from the amazing selection of jewellery and leather goods - with a lovely range of price points - to the magazine-style blog included within the site, and the just perfect presentation of all the items. I haven't been this excited about a store launch for a long time!
Happy spending
